How can I ask for a refund / compensation?

My train arrived late so I missed the connection. Application wasnt working correctly and kept showing alternating consequences that train can be caught and not. I have a very important meeting to attend and because of this delay I have to wait more than one hour for the train and tolerate the consequences of missing my appointment. I even took a taxi to be able to catch my first train to not miss this trip. The DB controller was not only impolite when I asked what can I do in such situation and whether I can ask for a refund or compensation but also confirmed that I have nothing to do except wait for the next train. I asked her is it normal that I have to withstand the consequences if I was 1 minute late to my train, but nobody is held liable if the train itself is late and causes me to miss my connection and she said yes. I tried to find somewhere to contact DB but its only possible through phone and my SIM provider only provides me normal flat calls and internet.

"For a delay of 60 minutes or more, you shall receive compensation amounting to 25% of the amount paid for the single journey, for a delay of 120 minutes or more 50%; for return journeys, compensation is calculated on the basis of half the ticket price."
