Bahncard 50 - ticket price not deducted

Ive recently purchases a “Bahncard 50” but either through the app or website there is no ticket price reduction at all.

I did select Bahncard 50 in the trip planner search options. The stations I travel between are Arnhem and Castrop-Rauxel.

Could someone tell me how to apply the discount to the ticket price?

Die Antwort wurde von DB Bahn bestätigt

If you choose a connection with local trains (ABR, ERB): the VRR does not accept BahnCards (answer only in German: https://community.bahn.de/questions/1635383-gilt-bahncard... ) - so there is no discount.

If you choose a connection including ICE: "50% off flexible fares and 25% off super saver and saver fares for Deutsche Bahn services within Germany. Discount on flexible fares for the foreign part of the route in up to 26 European countries." https://www.bahn.com/en/view/offers/bahncard/bahncard_50-...

I asked a VRR conductor in the RE19 if the bahncard 50 would work between Arnhem and Castrop on which he replied with: “yes, but only from Emmerich to Castrop.”. I thought I’d ask because I didn’t see a discount in the app when selecting the 50 bahncard in the tripplanner. Though because this person told me it would work I decided to trust his words and buy one.

Now I’m being told on this forum that what he said is not true.
Is there a way to cancel my bahncard and get my money back?

I'm sorry for you.
Unfortunately there is no way to cancel your BahnCard before the expiry date and you won't get your money back. You can try calling the BahnCard Services and ask for a cancellation and refund on goodwill. Chances are probably less than 1% but you never know...

0180 6 34 00 35 (20 cents per call from a German landline, max. 60 cents per call from a German mobile network; costs for calls from abroad depend on provider)
Monday to Friday 07:00 to 21:00, Saturdays 09:00 to 18:00

Maybe other users here have an idea how it could work with your BC50 anyway?

It's complicated and unfortunately I can't explain it 'cause I don't understand it either. :(

Danke!

Hello,

with a BahnCard 50 you get a 50% discount on the Flexpreis and a 25% discount on the Super Spar- und Sparpreise of Deutsche Bahn within Germany.

Discount on the flexible fare for international journeys in over 20 European countries.

On your route, the Rhein-Ruhr Transport Association (VRR) fare applies to local public transport (RE, RB, S-Bahn, IRE). The VRR does not recognise the BahnCard, which is why there is no discount on this fare.

If you book a trip with the RE/RB for the DB tariff, you will also get a 50% discount. /ni
